Privacy Statement
1. Who we are
GoYOLO is operated by Enticom Ltd, trading as GoYOLO. We are registered in England and Wales under company number 11820152. If you have a privacy question, want to make a data request, or want to complain about how we handle personal data, please use our contact form or email dp@goyolo.co.uk.
2. What this notice covers
This notice explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, how long we keep it, who we share it with, and what rights you have. It applies to people who browse the site, register for an account, create or edit a profile, upload images, use search, messaging, favourites, verification, or contact features, or otherwise interact with GoYOLO.
3. The personal data we collect
Depending on how you use GoYOLO, we may collect and process the following categories of personal data:
- account data, such as your username, email address, encrypted login details, and account status;
- profile data, such as your displayed location, year of birth, profile text, images, relationship interests, search preferences, and profile settings;
- communication data, such as messages sent through the platform, moderation reports, alerts, and support or contact form submissions;
- verification and safety data, such as your verification PIN, verification status, and verification image submitted for review;
- technical and usage data, such as IP address, browser and device information, session activity, pages viewed, referral information, and security-related events; and
- cookie and analytics data collected through tools such as Google Analytics, our cookie notice tooling, and Google reCAPTCHA.
Some profile fields may reveal more sensitive personal information, including information about your sex life or sexual orientation. We only process that information where you choose to provide it for profile, matching, and publication purposes.
4. How we use your personal data
We use personal data to run and improve the site, provide the services you ask for, and help keep GoYOLO safer for members. In particular, we may use your data to:
- create and manage your account;
- display and maintain your profile and gallery;
- help users search, match, save favourites, and communicate with each other;
- process verification submissions and reduce fraud, spam, and abuse;
- respond to reports, complaints, moderation issues, and contact requests;
- send service-related emails or alerts about your account or messages, where your settings allow it;
- operate, monitor, troubleshoot, and improve the website and its performance; and
- comply with legal obligations and protect our legal rights.
5. Our lawful bases for processing
We rely on one or more of the following lawful bases under UK data protection law:
- Contract: where processing is necessary to provide the account, profile, search, messaging, and other services you ask us to provide.
- Legitimate interests: where processing is necessary to run, secure, moderate, support, and improve GoYOLO, provided those interests are not overridden by your rights and freedoms.
- Consent: where you choose to publish optional profile information, provide sensitive profile details, or accept non-essential cookies or similar tools.
- Legal obligation: where we need to keep or disclose information to comply with the law, law enforcement requests, or regulatory duties.
6. Verification images and safety checks
If you submit a verification image, it is used to help confirm that you are a real person holding your verification PIN. Verification images are not displayed publicly on your profile. They are handled separately from normal gallery uploads and are used for review and safety purposes only.
7. Sharing your personal data
We do not sell your personal data. We may share it only where necessary with:
- hosting, infrastructure, analytics, and anti-spam or security providers that help us run the service;
- Google services used on the site, including Google Analytics and Google reCAPTCHA;
- email and support tooling used to send account, moderation, or contact-related communications;
- professional advisers, insurers, or law enforcement where disclosure is reasonably necessary; and
- other users, but only to the extent you choose to make profile or message content visible to them.
GoYOLO also surfaces some third-party profile content through integrated search tools. If you choose to use those linked features, the relevant third party may process data under its own terms and privacy notice.
8. International transfers
Some of the third-party services we use may process personal data outside the UK. Where that happens, we expect those providers to use appropriate safeguards for international transfers. If you would like more detail about a particular provider, please contact us.
9. Data retention
We keep personal data only for as long as we need it for the purpose it was collected, including for service delivery, moderation, security, and legal compliance.
- Active account and profile data is normally kept while your account remains open and in use.
- If you close your account, we will delete or anonymise personal data so that it no longer identifies you, except where we need to keep limited information for legal, security, fraud-prevention, or record-keeping reasons.
- Messages you have already sent may remain in another user's mailbox even after your account is closed.
- Verification material is handled separately from normal profile content and is not published on the site.
The current site does not provide a live on-site card, PayPal, or paysafecard checkout. If that changes, we will update this notice before collecting new payment details through the site.
10. Cookies and similar technologies
We use cookies and similar technologies to keep the site working, maintain secure sessions, remember preferences such as the login convenience cookie, support analytics, store cookie preferences, and help prevent spam and abuse. For more detail, please read our Cookie Policy.
11. Your rights
Subject to the usual legal limits and exemptions, you have the right to:
- ask for access to the personal data we hold about you;
- ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete information;
- ask us to delete information where there is no good reason for us to keep using it;
- ask us to restrict how we use your information;
- object to processing based on legitimate interests;
- withdraw consent where we rely on consent;
- ask for a copy of certain data in a portable format; and
- complain to the Information Commissioner's Office if you are unhappy with how we handle your personal data.
You can update much of your account and profile information yourself from your dashboard. You can also request account deletion using the delete account page.
12. Complaints
We would appreciate the chance to address your concerns first, so please contact us if you have a privacy complaint. You also have the right to complain to the ICO. Their complaints guidance is available at https://ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint/.
13. Changes to this notice
We may update this page from time to time to reflect changes to the site, the way we use data, or the law. When we do, we will update the date shown at the top of the notice. If we make a material change, we may also draw it to your attention within the site.
